CarePump pressotherapy devices: a guide to the range

CarePump is a range of pneumatic compression devices, also called pressotherapy or mechanical lymphatic drainage devices, made in Poland by BardoMed. The therapy programs in the Economic and Advanced series were developed with the Polish Society of Lymphology. OMED supplies the full CarePump range in South Africa.

Every CarePump works the same way: a central unit pumps air through tubes into a cuff worn on the legs, arms, waist or hips. The chambers in the cuff fill one after another in a set sequence, creating a wave of pressure that massages the tissue and helps move fluid out of the limb. Choosing a CarePump in three steps

1. Get advice first. Before buying or using a pressotherapy device, check with your doctor or physiotherapist that it is right for you. They can also advise which cuffs, programs and pressure settings to use.
2. Pick the number of chambers. Units come in 4, 6 and 8-chamber versions. More chambers give a more precise massage and a smoother pressure wave along the limb. 8-chamber units also offer the widest choice of cuffs.
3. Choose your cuffs. CarePump units are sold without cuffs, so you add the cuffs you need (legs, arms, waist, short or full pants). Cuffs must match the unit’s chamber count. The accessories and sizing guide explains what fits what.
