CarePump therapy programs explained

What each CarePump pre-program does, from the Lymphoedema and Venous oedema programs to Regeneration and the Sport series modes.

Last updated 26 September 2026

CarePump units come with built-in therapy programs. The programs in the Economic and Advanced series were developed by the Polish Society of Lymphology. The number of programs depends on the model, from 4 on the CarePump Lite4 to 15 on the CarePump Move8 PRO. Check the model comparison or your model’s data sheet to see which programs your unit has.

All programs should be chosen individually. Before buying or using a pressotherapy device, check with your doctor or physiotherapist that it is right for you. They can also advise which cuffs, programs and pressure settings to use.

Lymphoedema programs

Lymphoedema I

A standard program that fills the chambers one by one while keeping pressure in the chambers already filled. Intended for people who tolerate compression on the whole limb well, with long-standing lymphoedema where the tissue has become firm (fibrotic).

Lymphoedema II

Keeps constant compression in the chambers already filled, with twice as many cycles as Lymphoedema I, so it covers the whole limb faster. Intended for lymphoedema with softer, less fibrotic tissue. The faster cycle is also better tolerated by people who find constant compression on the whole limb uncomfortable.

Lymphoedema III (single ascending wave)

A band of pressure one chamber wide travels continuously up the limb, pushing fluid along while preventing it flowing back. Intended for people who do not tolerate constant compression on the whole limb, with soft, non-fibrotic swelling where a dent forms quickly when pressed.

Lymphoedema IV (double ascending wave)

Two chambers hold pressure at a time and the two-chamber band moves up the limb. Intended for people who do not tolerate constant compression on the whole limb, with swelling that still dents when pressed but not immediately.

Venous oedema programs

Venous oedema I

A classic program that fills the chambers one by one while keeping pressure in those already filled. Intended for long-standing venous swelling that no longer goes down on its own, for example overnight. It can also be used for non-fibrotic lymphoedema affecting only the lower part of the limb.

Venous oedema II

Fills two chambers at a time while keeping constant compression, with almost twice as many cycles as Venous oedema I. Intended for venous swelling with softer tissue. The faster cycle is generally better tolerated.

Lipoedema programs

Lipoedema I

Fills the chambers one after another, but releases the first chamber (at the foot or hand) once chamber 3 starts to fill, because hands and feet are not affected by lipoedema. Intended for people who do not tolerate pressure on the end of the limb, for example with bunions or after surgery.

Lipoedema II

Fills two chambers at a time so the cuff inflates faster, and keeps the first chamber inflated. Intended for people who are more sensitive to pressure, or if fluid flows back into the foot during Lipoedema I.

Other programs

Post-injury therapy

A high gradient, moderate speed and short treatment time for swelling after minor injuries, which most often affect the hand or foot. For long-standing or major injuries, or injuries near the top of the limb, a lower gradient or one of the lymphoedema programs may be more suitable.

Cellulite advanced

A complex sequence that first massages the tissue in two-chamber sections, then pushes fluid up the limb. Intended for people who tolerate constant compression on the whole limb for a long time.

Regeneration

A high gradient with a two-chamber band that steps up the limb, for a faster cycle and a shorter treatment of about 45 minutes. Recommended after physical exercise.

Prevention, relaxation

A zero gradient, so all chambers use the same pressure, with a single band of pressure moving up the limb. Intended for relaxation on days with little movement, such as long periods of sitting or standing, when there is no visible swelling. Do not use this program if you are at risk of swelling, especially after lymph node removal.

All-chamber (global massage)

All chambers inflate together, hold for 2 seconds, deflate, and repeat after 3 seconds. An alternative to Prevention, relaxation, with the same limitations.

Sport series modes

The CarePump Move4, CarePump Move6 and CarePump Move8 have six modes designed for athletes: Warm-up and prevention, Regeneration and wellness, Post-injury therapy, Oedema therapy, All-chamber massage, and a Mixed mode that lets you personalise the treatment. See the Sport series guide.
